eSpeak - Make Your PC Speak!

Yesterday, I read Ubuntu Kungfu books. There are lot of Ubuntu tips, tricks, hints and hacks. I’m enjoy much reading this books, then I found small apps which is actually default package of Ubuntu but I never heard before. eSpeak. What is eSpeak?

“eSpeak is a compact open source software speech synthesizer for English and other languages, for Linux and Windows.”

You can find the details about this program on their official sites. If you want to try, just type in your console (terminal):

$espeak “your phrase”

You can tweak further this tiny program, such the the speed, save the output to wav, the voices and many more.

JPG vs PNG, Which One Best?

JPEG versus PNG comics

I’m not a designer or expert on imaging fields. I just curious about this two type of files. Sometimes I’m using png, and some other times I’m using jpeg. I just know that from the file size, jpeg will give me a smaller size, compared than png, so I can easily uploaded it and attach it to my websites. How about you? Which one do use oftenly? Why? Please share with us here. Thanks!

Install Logitech Quickcam E 3500 Plus on Ubuntu 8.04 Hardy Heron

Without installing any drivers, I start test it on Camorama, unfortunately, it won’t work, the message showing that my webcam isn’t attached yet, the fact is I already attach it to my computer.

Then I tested on Ekiga, Skype and Kopete, it’s all works like charm. Here is the screenshot:

Then, I try searching for webcam manager application. I try many software but the most favorite one for me is wxcam. Why wxcam? Because this application has a lot of features and the recording tools works perfectly. You can download this application here.
