Tips - How to Become a Successful Online Freelancer [Part II]

On my previous post, I already tell you about tips to become successful freelancer. This article was the second part. This tips was written Indonesian, so if you not native Indonesian, try to grab some dictionaries to translate this article. Here we go, the original article written by Freelancetech.info.

Tips - How to Become a Successful Online Freelancer #1:

there is some tips and trick for freelace online :

  3. Bid antara $30-$100 or $100-$300 di GAF begitu pun di RAC, tapi kamu jgn memberikan bid harga tertinggi $100 or $300, kenapa?? karena saingannya kamu itu seluruh dunia (apalagi orang india), mereka (calon klien) belum mengetahui kualitas dirimu, karena kamu belum ada rating or review. saran saya, kamu memberikan bid 1/2 harga, misal $50-$75 or $130-$160.
  4. Raihlah review or rating sebanyak-banyaknya dengan kerja rodi sedikit. nanti kalo rating or review sudah 10, kamu boleh sombong dgn menaikan harga
  5. Berusahalah meminta YM id, MSN id, gtalk id and email for keepntouch
  8. Bila kita mendapat klien jgn lupa kasih mereka report progress, walaupun progress yang kita lakukan belum banyak. toh ini juga progress report
  9. Jangan sampai melewati DEADLINE
  10. Berbaik-baiklah kepada calon klien or klien, agar mereka menjadi klien tetap kalian. gue sudah mendapat 2 klien tetap. wow its fun

Tips - How to Become a Successful Online Freelancer #2

  7. Say hey to your old client. basa basi untuk long term project, bisa melalui Yahoo messanger, email, or skype
  8. Jangan buat dirimu jenuh dengan load pekerjaan yang menumpuk, usahakan punya planning untuk VACATION and DONT DISTURB BY YOUR CLIENT
  9. Menabunglah, karena kita tidak tahu sampai kapan kita akan mendapatkan pekerjaan ini. mungkin saja dalam 1-2 kita belum dapat project. so… survive your self and your family :)

The last, this is a tips from experienced freelancers:

Tips - How to Become a Successful Online Freelancer [Part I]

Tips - How to Become a Successful Online Freelancer [Part I]This article are going to talk about one of many internet business opportunities. This is about freelancer. There are many freelance work available on the internet, starting from basic task - like writing - until task that need some special skills - like web programming (this is the topics I want to share here).

Let’s start this article by comparing freelance job in our country with online freelance job (which is basically comes from foreign country). From my subjective views, freelance in Indonesia almost have no “value”, I’m seeing from salary point of view. You will see different case if you talking freelance in foreign country, especially US, Europe and Australia. The most easiest comparation is from salary because they paid freelance usually in US dollar, which is have more values compared to Rupiah.

Let’s take a look at this sample:

A web development company based in Brisbane, Australia is looking for a talented Indonesian (lived and based in Indonesia) to join our team. Job opening are for Remote Full-Time or Project-Based Advanced PHP Programmer.

  1. Have good understanding on PHP4/PHP5 Object Oriented Programming and MVC.
  2. Have worked on a project that cloned websites such as Facebook, Youtube, Dating sites, Ecommerce site.
  3. Have excellent query and MySQL database skills (understand other RDMS would be a plus).
  4. Understand CakePHP framework would be a plus.
  5. Understand HTML tags.
  6. Discipline and on-time.
  7. Able to read, write and speak English fluently.
  8. Have a 24/7 internet connection and willing to stay online during working hours.

Working Hours: 8 hours/day 5 days a week
Expected Salary: Starts from US$50/day for full-time (project-based fee will apply hourly rate).[source]

Look for the sentence which I make bold and underlined. The salaries for that project STARTS FROM $50, this means you still have a chance to proposed for higher number. Can you imagine, how much is the money if it’s converted to Indonesian rupiah? Even the same jobs in Indonesia doesn’t paid that much :). This is just few example from many online freelance opportunities.

Everyone can try applying for freelance jobs, almost no limitations and the most interesting part is you can do the task from home, as long as you have internet connections.

I thought this article already long enough, I will continued in another post. Don’t go anywhere!
